Back Up data as part of your Disaster Recovery Plan:

A Disaster Recovery Plan outlines measures an organisation takes to ensure that they can continue to operate during and after a disaster, whether it be cause by a natural or human Act such as; fire, flood or terrorism. Every company should plan for a potential disruption. An effective recovery procedure can significantly reduce the impact on your productivity, revenue and customers.

The most important factors to consider are where you work, your key people and what technology you cannot do without.

With the rise in information technology and reliance on critical computer data, the landscape has changed in recent years in favour of protecting irreplaceable data.

An imperative part of any Disaster Recovery Plan should be to back up all digital information to limit data loss and to aid recovery.

Once backed up tapes should be stored OFF-SITE. It is pointless to back up information and continue to store on ON-SITE because in the event of a disaster, the data will still remain unrecoverable.

SDS offers a Vault service, offering Back Up Tape management in compliance with our customers Disaster Recovery Plans and our own Accreditations.

SDS stores tapes in a lockable vault. Each tape is individually bar-coded; items are scanned at numerous points as they are handled from their racking location, into the secure loading area and onto the delivery vehicle.

This includes the scanning of all items delivered to and collected from our customers’ premises, at which point we issue till-roll delivery and collection receipts that are produced from portable printers linked to our Drivers’ hand held PDT scanners.

A full audit trail for the entire lifecycle of each individual item is maintained, providing real-time tracking and visibility of the current location of all media.

Via our web-based ordering and inventory management facility our customers are able to view inventories and the status of all items in real-time and order online.
